Dates: June 30 – July 7, 2019
The course starts with a short introduction about the possibilities of the different techniques of artistic gravure. From the preparation and processing of the printing plates to the finished printed sheet. 15 x 20 copper plates are machined, scratched with the "drypoint", or etched with ferric chloride. Templates can be transferred by retyping and color plates can be created by transfer printing. It is worked with line and surface etching, with needle and sugar ink, to get an insight into the many technical possibilities.
We will combine artistic possibilities with the necessary technical precision.
If there is time, we will have the possibility to create a larger subject.
You can print a small edition of the created printing plates (up to five pieces - depending on the motif!). Larger editions I would order.
The course is suitable for beginners and advanced alike.
Please take templates and drafts with you, as well as appropriate work clothes (eg. apron).
